Sausage Rolls

These delicious Sausage Rolls can be enjoyed hot or cold, making them a versatile snack or appetizer.


  • 1 small block (300g) tofu
  • 1/2 cup crushed walnuts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dry vegetable stock powder
  • 1 tsp brewer’s yeast
  • 1-2 tsp dried herbs (sage, mixed, or any preferred herbs)
  • 3 sheets frozen vegan pastry, or make your own pastry


  1. In a food processor, combine the walnuts, tofu, onion, and soy sauce. Mix until well combined.
  2. Add the rolled oats, breadcrumbs, vegetable stock powder, brewer’s yeast, and dried herbs to the food processor. Blend again to incorporate all ingredients.
  3. Cut each pastry sheet in half, then spoon a layer of the tofu mixture down the middle of each sheet.
  4. Roll up the pastry sheets and seal the edges.
  5. Cut each roll into 2 or 4 pieces, depending on your desired size.
  6. Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Prick the tops with a fork, brush with water or soy milk, and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Bake at 180-200°C (356-392°F) for about 20-30 minutes, or until nicely browned.
