This easy Homemade Ketchup recipe allows you to enjoy the taste of ketchup without any additives or preservatives. It’s a perfect condiment for burgers, fries, or any dish that needs an extra burst of flavor.
Ingredients
- 2 tins (170g) of tomato paste
- 4 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 3 Tbsp sugar or sweetener of choice
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ tsp garlic granules (or ¾ tsp garlic powder)
- 1 ½ tsp onion granules (or ¾ tsp onion powder)
- 1/4 tsp allspice
- ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 1/3 cup water
- Hot sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp MSG (optional)
Method
- In a heated pan, combine tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, sugar or sweetener, salt, garlic granules, onion granules, allspice, cayenne pepper, and water.
- If desired, add hot sauce and MSG to taste.
- Stir until smooth and thoroughly combined.
- Leave aside to cool, then pour the homemade ketchup into a clean bottle or jar for storage.
