Enjoy the scones on the same day, or freeze them for later use.

  • 3 cups (450g) flour
  • 6 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp (50g) margarine
  • 1 ¼ cups (300ml) plant milk

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F).
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Rub the margarine into the dry mixture with your fingertips until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.
  4. Gradually pour in the plant milk, stirring with a knife to form a firm, sticky dough. Adjust the milk quantity as needed.
  5. Lightly flour your work surface and turn out the dough onto it. Press the dough flat until it is about 3cm thick.
  6. Use a glass to stamp out dough circles and place them on a lightly floured baking tray.
  7. Bake for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Optional: Cinnamon Scones

  1. In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and 1/4 cup desiccated coconut.
  2. Spread the mixture onto the flattened dough, then roll it up before cutting and baking as described above.
